How to play PSX Japan games in the U.S-- The Swap Trick
This is the Swap Method in Short ----------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1 (rip trick) This version is used for the earlier versions of the PlayStation without there-written ROM BIOS. Because these units have no country code check (bypassable), they will allow foreign games to be played via this method: Place an original game (i.e. not copied) of the country of the PlayStation you're using in the drive, and place some kind of weight in the drive sensor, and turn the PlayStation on. Just as the white Sony screen disappears, ripout the disc and swap it for the game you wish to play. The game then loads. Version 2 (single swap trick) This version is also used for the earlier versions of the PlayStation without the re-written ROM BIOS. Because these units have no country code check (bypassable), they will allow foreign games to be played via this method: While in the CD options screen, place an original game (i.e. not copied) of the country of the PlayStation you're using in the drive, then place some kind of weight in the drive sensor. The disc should spin for a few seconds then stop. Now swap it for the game you want to play, and choose exit. The game then loads. Version 3 (double swap trick) This version is used for the latest versions of the PlayStation which have a re-written ROM BIOS. Because these units have a country code check, they will only allow foreign games to be played via this method: Place an original (i.e. not copied) game of the country of game (i.e. not copied) of the PlayStation you're using in the drive, then place some kind of weight in the drive sensor. Turn on the PlayStation. The disc should spin, speeding up and slowing down (going from 2x to 1x, etc). At every speed change, swap the disc with the one you want to play. After 4 swaps, the game will load.x Thanks to terrax@infinet.com. |
